Lavender Hill is Waldorf inspired and nature based program for children ages 2-6. We are open Monday-Friday 8:30am-12:30pm and are offering aftercare Tuesdays-Thursdays until 3pm. We are located in SW Longmont, in the beautiful state of Colorado. The owner and teacher, Kai Miller, has 20 years experience working with children. She received her Waldorf teacher certification from Rudolf Steiner College and a Colorado State Directors license in 2013. She lives in the home with her two beautiful children. They love to go for nature walks by the creek, play in the water and mud, work in the garden, and of course, smell the abundant lavender growing on the property. |
At Lavender Hill we emphasize imaginative play, art and creative activities, music, storytelling, and honoring the rhythms of the seasons and of life. We celebrate the changing of the seasons through our festivals and seasonal crafts. Children experience daily artistic activities such as watercolor painting, drawing, beeswax modeling, music and movement.
We provide a sensory rich environment and play-based, as well as, nature based activities that encourage the young child to investigate the natural world, explore social relationships, and expand imaginative capacities. As we explore the world and each other kindness and respect is encouraged.
Nature is infused into all aspects of our program. From nature walks to celebrating seasonal festivals. We emphasize inquiry-based learning through play and hands on discovery. The Lavender Hill Neighborhood is blessed with a creek path full of places to explore.
Another unique component to Lavender Hill is our weaving in of mindfulness, yoga and meditation. Ms. Kai has been a yogi for over 20 years and loves to inspire little yogis by teaching yoga postures, breath work and meditation through fun and engaging games and stories.
We also offer inspiring parent education evenings several times per year where you can feel supported and gain knowledge, as well as, practical tools to assist you in raising a well balanced child.
