Kai Miller Owner/ Lead Teacher Kai was born in New York State and moved to Colorado in 2001. She began working with children in the boulder community as a childcare provider. After that she explored teaching and became a substitute teacher for traditional daycare centers in Boulder County. Then Kai found her way to a Waldorf Kindergarten and was an assistant teacher under the study of a local master teacher. She was the lead teacher for the aftercare program, and directed a summer camp in 2010. Kai then went on to teach at a school in Lyons, CO called Applesong. Academically, Kai holds an M.A in Environmental Education from Prescott College and has completed her Early Childhood Waldorf Teacher training at Rudolf Steiner College 2013. She also earned her Director Qualification in October of 2013. Her spiritual striving has led her to become a yoga teacher and to focus on her own personal development as a human being through meditation. Kai said she believes it is her responsibility to be worthy of imitation and create a space filled with love, joy and warmth. She has two young children and when she is not teaching loves to hike and play in nature with them.
Genai Heinrichs Assistant Teacher Genai has called Boulder County home for the last 25 years. Attending Bryn Athyn College Genai majored in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-4th grade focus). It was here that she first learned of Waldorf education. After becoming a mother and looking for a school to nurture and educate her children she became a Waldorf parent, as she believed strongly that the Waldorf pedagogy educates the whole child in a holistic approach. All four of her children attended Waldorf schools from Pre-K–8th grade. They are all now in various stages of college and post-college life! Genai was a proud stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. As they got older she began to volunteer and eventually worked in different capacities during her 17 years at Boulder Valley Waldorf School, including substitute teaching and as the administrative assistant and registrar. Children and education have been the focus of Genai’s adult life. Genai is thrilled to be assisting at Lavender Hill Preschool. She greatly enjoys working with and nurturing the children and to see their joy, wonder and imagination.
Genai loves spending time with her family and animals on their little farm just west of Niwot.
