Jenny Grassley Assistant Teacher
I am grateful to have taught in many different settings over the course of my career. By working with immigrants in Seattle, teaching in India, and working in public schools, I deepened my love of teaching and learning. While in India, I taught English to children, some of whom had not been to school, and saw confidence and strength enrich them through education. After India, I earned my Master in Teaching from Whitworth University, taught for six years, first as a PK-K classroom teacher and then as a literacy and ELL Interventionist, at a Montessori school and expeditionary learning school. I have spent the last two years as a stay-at-home mom to my son and daughter, where I loved being a mom to these two amazing people. While searching for a preschool for my daughter, I came across Lavender Hill. I was drawn to the warm and caring environment, which closely aligns with my values. I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of this caring community as a parent and teacher.
I hold a Professional Teaching Certificate in Colorado; endorsements in elementary education and culturally and linguistically diverse education; I am highly qualified in early childhood education; hold a Montessori Early Childhood Certificate from the North American Montessori Center; and I am trained in Guided Language Acquisitions and Design (GLAD). As a Boulder native, I love a good cup of coffee, advocating for social justice and equity, good books, skiing, taking time hiking in the mountains and exploring new places with my family.
